The Grossglockner is the worlds most well known mountain pass outside of the cycling world. Purposely built in the 1930s to enable the Austrian public greater access to the wonderous mountain landscape glaciers. This ride takes in the less well known Southern ascent starting with a short descent to warm up the legs before turning back up past the Village of Heiligenblut. Now the road twists turns its way up past pine forest, open moorland finally into the extremely rugged mountain terrain.
